Themed Immunisation Fun Days

Themed immunisation fun-days were a highlight of the team’s campaign, encouraging vaccine uptake and educating families about the importance of childhood immunisation. 

In 2023, we hosted a series of large-scale Immunisation days with a variety of different themes such as our annual Peppa Pig Flu Clinic, our first Princesses & Superheroes event, the Halloween Disco, and our much beloved Winter Wonderland. Many of these events were also in response to the cost-of-living crisis and our recognition that many of our registered families would not be able to afford certain celebrations such as the Winter Wonderland experience.

Hackney Half Marathon – May 2023

Supporting the Hackney Half Marathon has been one of our most exciting and ambitious health promotion initiatives which required application and approval 6 months prior to the event. 

Ahead of the marathon, the Richmond Road First Contact Physiotherapists led a successful webinar on Pre-Marathon Tips including a Q&A session which 94% of attendees stated they found ‘very useful’.

Teddy Bear GP Clinics – May 2023

Our Teddy Bear GP Clinics have been setup to educate children about the importance of good health and wellbeing from a young age and eliminate the fear of visiting the GP Practice. 

The Practice has now hosted over 200 local school children who attend the Practice and partake in various stations including a) handwashing b) germs and bacteria c) medical equipment and d) body parts, following which they take mock calls in reception and spend time with a GP. Children finish the session with a ‘graduation’ and opportunity to practice their skills on their own Teddy Bears.

Health & Wellbeing Day – May 2023

Our Health & Wellbeing Day was one of our biggest events in 2023; requiring a formal application to the Council for the entire road to be closed in order to enable the construction of a large marquee to house our exhibitors. The event featured over 30 local health and wellbeing services who showcased the support they could offer to over 500 patients who attended. 

During the event, the Practice also carried out 300 opportunistic health checks, delivered 200 Covid-19 vaccinations and invited all those who attended to join the team for afternoon tea.

Coronation Fun Day – May 2023

The Practice’s Coronation Fun Day was a fun-filled day featuring a bouncy castle, crown and flag making, coronation games, a royal stage for pictures and food including popcorn and candyfloss. The event was attended by 150 children and their families. 

On the day, the Nursing Team were stationed at the check-in desk to review the immunisation status of all children who attended.  Parents were offered the opportunity to get their children vaccinated if they were due.
